Natural ventilation with intelligent heat recovery.
Natural ventilation with intelligent heat recovery.
Ventive PASSIVE is the only façade-integrated pure natural ventilation system to passively recover heat from stale exhaust air using a heat exchanger. Designed for schools and commercial buildings its intelligent, connected controls enable the optimal balance of fresh air and heat recovery for all conditions.
100% fresh air
PASSIVE is a natural ventilation system, meaning it only supplies fresh air into rooms. It does not mix in stale contaminated air like other systems.
Heat recovery
PASSIVE offers heat recovery of up to 55% thermal efficiency at zero energy cost. Each unit is designed to save 1,600kWh per year on average, based on monitoring and IES modelling.
Connected
Once installed, PASSIVE connects automatically to the Ventive cloud to enable remote commissioning, real-time performance monitoring and proactive maintenance. Available as standard, connection is made via a GSM network to ensure security, simplicity and savings. (link)
Silent operation
PASSIVE has no noisy fans or motors, giving occupants the silence and fresh air required for full concentration. Testing has shown it reduces external noise by an average of 45%.
Custom performance
We design, specify and manufacture each PASSIVE unit to be perfect for your specific project. We can update performance parameters to suit changing requirements.
How does Ventive PASSIVE work?
Passive Ventilation with Heat Recovery (PVHR™) is a patented method of delivering high thermal efficiency and consistent air flow using natural ventilation systems by securely transferring the heat from exhaust air to fresh incoming air.
Ventive PASSIVE sits within a wall located high up on the classroom wall, with an incoming air flow pushing down into the classroom, while stale exhaust air exits through the top before transferring energy when passing through the Heat Exchanger. It has a number of sensors that constantly monitor the temperature and air quality within the room. The sensors communicate with the system’s actuators to adapt performance to changing conditions in real time. You can set custom parameters based on your own requirements, and later tweak them based on real life performance data. PASSIVE is capable of the following operation modes:
Heat recovery
PASSIVE passes 100% fresh air through pure natural ventilation. The PVHR method ensures there are no cold draughts, recovering up to 55% of the heat from exhaust air to provide comfort for occupants at zero energy cost. In winter the dampers close to produce an airlock and ensure heat is retained overnight.
Comfort
PASSIVE dynamically adjusts to sensor data from the classroom to provide an optimal balance of heat recovery with air quality. This can change multiple times during the day as occupancy levels vary.
Passive cooling
During warm conditions PASSIVE provides a constant flow of air through the room overnight. Capable of 2 air changes per hour, this method can reduce temperatures overnight by up to 5°c.
Passive boost
Increasing air supply by opening a window allows PASSIVE to rapidly refresh the air quality within the classroom. Look at real-life data from Ventive installations in schools in this blog (link)
